The director of A Quiet Place: Day One is set to lead the film adaptation of Death Stranding.
A24 and Kojima Productions appear to have selected a director for their film adaptation of Hideo Kojima’s renowned video game, Death Stranding. According to Deadline, Michael Sarnoski (Pig, A Quiet Place: Day One) is in negotiations to write and direct the project.
Originally released on PlayStation 4 in 2019, the game stars Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, and Margaret Qualley, and is set in a post-cataclysmic United States populated by supernatural beings known as ‘Beached Things’. The story follows Sam Porter Bridges, who is assigned the mission of reconnecting a fractured America and re-establishing ties among the last vestiges of humanity. A sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, is expected to launch on PlayStation 5 in June.
If an agreement is finalized, Death Stranding will mark a collaboration between Sarnoski and A24, as he is currently finishing post-production on the studio's The Death of Robin Hood, a reinterpretation of the Robin Hood tale featuring Hugh Jackman, Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett, and Noah Jupe.
