Amazon has acquired the TV series "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."
Last year, it was announced that Sony Pictures Television was working on a TV adaptation of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and now it has been reported that Amazon has acquired the project as a potential series for Prime Video.
The series draws inspiration from Wang Dulu’s book of the same name, which is part of his Crane Iron Pentalogy and has been adapted for the screen multiple times, especially by director Ang Lee in his successful 2000 film featuring Chow Yun-fat, Michelle Yeoh, and Zhang Ziyi.
Jason Ning (Lucifer) will write and serve as showrunner for the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon series, while Ronald D. Moore (For All Mankind) and Roy Lee (A Minecraft Movie) will be the executive producers. The synopsis states:
“Set against breathtaking landscapes and thrilling action, ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ follows Shu Lien and Mu Bai, two star-crossed warriors, as they navigate the challenges of forbidden love and modernity—torn between maintaining their traditional way of life and pursuing a future together.”
