The Life of Chuck Trailer: Tom Hiddleston Stars in Mike Flanagan's Adaptation of Stephen King

Typically, there is never a dull year for adaptations of Stephen King's works, but 2025 is shaping up to be particularly significant for the renowned author. After the release of The Monkey at the beginning of the year, we can expect The Running Man and The Long Walk this fall. However, before that, Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck will premiere this summer. Featuring Tom Hiddleston, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Jacob Tremblay, and Mark Hamill, this film, which won the TIFF People’s Choice Award, is based on King’s novella and tells the story of three chapters from the life of an ordinary man named Charles Krantz. With NEON's release scheduled for June 6, the new trailer has just been released.

In his review, C.J. Prince noted, “The film’s overly sentimental nature will likely make The Life of Chuck resistant to criticism – anyone who questions its fundamental themes may be viewed as undermining a sincere attempt to promote positivity. However, good intentions do not exempt those themes from being critiqued for relying on a weak foundation. Numerous films have addressed the same fundamental aspects of human existence concerning our fears of tragedy, loss, and mortality. The most impactful films, like those by Terence Davies, confront life’s highs and lows directly as we have no option but to face them. A film such as David Lynch’s The Straight Story shows characters shaped by tragedy and hardship who choose to remain kind and selfless, depicted as acts of resilience that are deeply moving and affirming of life.”
