Lovecraftian horror game Static Dread has announced an August release date.
Indie publisher Polden has revealed that their forthcoming Lovecraftian horror game, Static Dread, is set to launch on Steam on August 7th. Drawing inspiration from games like Papers, Please and No, I’m Not a Human, and infused with elements reminiscent of Cthulhu, Static Dread places players in the role of a lighthouse keeper amidst a backdrop of eldritch enigmas. Check out the new release trailer below.
In Static Dread, a worldwide catastrophe has severely impaired the use of technology for navigation at sea. In a bid to restore safety, the harbour authorities have reactivated an ancient lighthouse. Players assume the role of the solitary keeper of this timeworn beacon on a deserted island, tasked with determining the fate of passing ships and the nearby settlement.
Players must ensure the safe passage of vessels, but as each night falls, their responsibilities grow increasingly hazardous. Local sailors whisper tales of bizarre, aquatic creatures and ships returning to shore devoid of their crews, while townsfolk engage in prayers to old sea deities and conduct rituals aimed at raising the dead.
Preserve the keeper’s sanity and guide the ships safely through the enigmatic coastline, or succumb to the darkness lurking beneath the waves.
Add Static Dread to your wishlist on Steam and try out the game’s demo.
