Sam Elliott will be joining Taylor Sheridan's Landman for its second season.
Taylor Sheridan is gearing up to collaborate again with a former Yellowstone franchise actor for the second season of his new series, Landman. Sam Elliott, who appeared in the prequel 1883, will join Billy Bob Thornton in the upcoming series.
Details about Elliott's character in the new season, which is currently being filmed, have not yet been revealed. Elliott is a beloved actor known for his distinctive voice and iconic moustache. He received a SAG award for his role as Pinkerton agent Shea Brennan in 1883, and his notable credits include The Big Lebowski, Thank You for Smoking, Justified, A Star is Born (for which he earned an Academy Award nomination), and Tombstone.
Landman is co-created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, inspired by Wallace’s podcast Boomtown, which explores the oil industry in Texas.
Set against the backdrop of the traditional boomtowns of West Texas, the series tells a contemporary story of those seeking fortune in the oil rig industry. Drawing from the acclaimed 11-part podcast Boomtown, the show portrays a layered narrative featuring roughnecks and wildcat billionaires driving a monumental boom that is reshaping climate, economy, and geopolitics.
The cast of Landman includes Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Mark Collie, Paulina Chávez, Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Andy Garcia, Michael Peña, and Colm Feore.
