Michael J. Fox is set to make a comeback to television in the third season of Shrinking.
Michael J. Fox, the iconic Canadian actor known for his role in Back to the Future, is set to make a return to television in the third season of Apple’s popular series Shrinking, alongside Jason Segel and Harrison Ford.
Fox has been a cherished figure in acting for many years, gaining fame from the 1980s show Family Ties and breaking into the mainstream with hit films like Back to the Future and Teen Wolf. He has also appeared in TV shows such as Spin City, Boston Legal, The Good Wife, and The Michael J. Fox Show, although he has largely stepped away from the film and television industry due to his ongoing fight with Parkinson’s Disease. He was featured in Apple TV+’s acclaimed documentary Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie, which explored his career and his diagnosis.
Details about his character remain unknown, but it is expected that it will have ties to Ford’s character, Paul Rhoades, who also has Parkinson’s. Shrinking will represent Fox’s return to television after briefly revisiting his role from The Good Wife in the spin-off The Good Fight, as well as working again with Spin City creator Bill Lawrence.
In the upcoming third season, Fox will join new cast members Jeff Daniels (The Martian), Sherry Cola (Nobody Wants This), and Isabella Gomez (One Day at a Time).
The series Shrinking is created and executive produced by Segel, Bill Lawrence, and Brett Goldstein, with Lawrence acting as showrunner. Ashley Nicole Black and Bill Posley will also take on executive producer roles for the third season.
The show centers on a grieving therapist (played by Segel) who begins to violate the rules and share his unfiltered thoughts with his clients. By disregarding his training and ethical guidelines, he finds himself instigating drastic changes in his clients' lives—and his own.
The cast of Shrinking includes Jason Segel, Harrison Ford, Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, Luke Tennie, and Lukita Maxwell.
