Superman Challenges the President in Latest Superman Trailer

In the latest Superman trailer, David Corenswet’s version of the Man of Steel sits down for an interview with Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane and must address accusations that he has gone against the president of the United States.

The trailer raises several intriguing questions—does this scene indicate that Lois Lane is already aware of Superman’s true identity in the upcoming film? (While they work together at the Daily Planet when he is in his Clark Kent persona, he isn’t wearing glasses in the trailer.)

Moreover, is this a genuine interview or merely a practice session for Lois and/or Superman?

Does the trailer also intend to reflect contentious real-world issues like immigration, or does it simply give that impression?

Superman and Lois Confront Each Other in Trailer

The interview opens with Lois questioning Superman about a recent incident where he supposedly saved many lives—without following proper procedures. As they converse, thrilling moments of Superman’s heroism unfold, alongside the criticism he faces for it.

“Today the Secretary of Defense stated he would look into your actions,” Lois remarks.

Superman raises an eyebrow, replying, “My actions? I stopped a war.”

She continues pressing: “Essentially, you illegally entered a country… did you consult the president?”

He lets out a dramatic sigh before responding, “No.”

“It appeared you were acting as a representative of the United States—” she starts, but he interrupts: “I was not representing anyone but myself… and doing good!”

They appear to reconcile: Later in the trailer, we see them sharing a kiss as he soars high in the air, reminiscent of the classic Lois and Superman pose. The music, echoing John Williams’ score from the original 1978 Superman, elevates the grandeur of our extraterrestrial hero.

The trailer also hints that Corenswet’s portrayal might be a bit more defensive and temperamental than previous Supermans, especially compared to Christopher Reeve’s calm, smiling, and hard-to-anger Superman from the original four films.

Additionally, the new Superman trailer showcases Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, who mostly broods over Superman. He even goes as far as to complain about Superman’s pronouns, declaring, “he’s not a man — he’s an it.”
