Zach Braff has been confirmed for the Scrubs reboot, and more original cast members will be contacted.

      Months after the announcement that a revival of Scrubs is officially in the works, it's been confirmed that Zach Braff will return to reprise his iconic role as John ‘J.D.’ Dorian, with other original cast members also being contacted to join the project.

      Braff starred as the lead in Scrubs for eight out of its nine seasons, as the ninth season was more of a spin-off called Scrubs: Med School, which focused primarily on a new cast while Braff and other original stars Donald Faison and John C. McGinley appeared regularly. Braff's character, J.D., was the dreamy and optimistic protagonist who strived to help others as a doctor, even if it meant irritating his mentor, Dr. Cox, played by McGinley.

      Braff's participation follows several months of negotiations with ABC, during which he requested that filming be conducted in Los Angeles instead of Vancouver. Now that an agreement has been reached, ABC and 20th Century TV will reach out to fellow Scrubs stars Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, John C. McGinley, and Judy Reyes about their potential return. However, it may be more challenging to secure Reyes since she is also one of the leads in ABC's drama High Potential.

      Creator Bill Lawrence will have some involvement in the revival, as Warner Bros. and ABC coordinated with his exclusive deal with WB to bring the project to life, although he will not act as showrunner or writer when production ramps up.

      Scrubs is a medical comedy-drama series that aired from 2001 to 2010, set in Sacred Heart Hospital, following a group of young doctors as they deal with the challenges of their medical careers and personal lives.
