The zombie survival game Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days has received a new update.
Following the Early Access launch of Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days on Steam last month, developer PikPok Games has rolled out a new update featuring several additions aimed at enhancing gameplay experience. Survival in a zombie-infested Texas is about to become even more challenging.
Navigating a world overrun by zombies is neither easy nor predictable, and this latest update seeks to add an element of unpredictability with the introduction of Curveballs. These are environmental and world events that may trigger randomly or under specific conditions, such as the location of shelters, the number of survivors, or particular dates, and will influence shelters. These occurrences can either benefit or hinder the player's chances of survival.
One issue with zombie apocalypses is that not all survivors reach safety. If a survivor meets an untimely end while scavenging, there's now a possibility of encountering them later as a survivor (or “Zurvivor,” as referred to by the developers) upon returning to that spot. Regrettably, these former companions will only be interested in taking a bite out of you.
The update also expands the range of throwable items available for various strategies against zombies. Players can now use stones to distract and lure zombies, drop bricks on foes, and even toss a few pipe bombs. It's important to note that the latter can inflict considerable damage to survivors as well.
Additional features in this update include the ability to shoulder-barrel through doors. Sprinting at an unlocked door with enough speed now allows players to smash through, costing a small amount of health in the process—a worthwhile trade-off for a hasty exit. Furthermore, a new starting shelter at Stanton & Son’s Meta in the Seneca district has been added, which also serves as a new scavenging area.
