Avatar: The Last Airbender has cast Adam Beach in the role of Hakoda, the father of Sokka and Katara.

Netflix's live-action adaptation of *Avatar: The Last Airbender* is already in production for its third season, with Deadline reporting that a key role has been filled for Sokka and Katara's quest against the Fire Nation, featuring Adam Beach (The Birds Who Fear Death) as their father, Hakoda.

Hakoda has been absent from Sokka and Katara's lives for many years before the series begins, as he was presumed dead at the hands of the Fire Nation's army. His disappearance and the possibility of his death have motivated both Sokka, who trains to become a warrior, and Katara, who enhances her waterbending, to defend their village.

*Avatar: The Last Airbender* is set in a world where individuals can manipulate one of the four elements: water, earth, fire, and air. The Avatar, chosen by fate, has the ability to bend all four elements and is responsible for safeguarding the world. The latest Avatar, Aang, along with his friends, must thwart the Fire Nation's efforts to conquer the world.

Beach is recognized for his roles in *Flags of Our Fathers*, *The Power of the Dog*, *Windtalkers*, and *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit*. He recently appeared in Apple TV+’s *Government Cheese* and will soon feature in Garry A. Brown’s biopic about the esteemed Native American fire captain Paul Fullerton.

The second season of *Avatar: The Last Airbender* is set to premiere in early 2026.

The series unfolds in a war-ravaged, Asiatic world where select individuals can bend one of the classical elements: water, earth, fire, or air. Aang (Gordon Cormier), as the "Avatar," is the sole person capable of bending all the elements and is destined to restore peace from the Fire Nation's aggression. Accompanied by his new allies Katara (Kiawentiio) and Sokka (Ian Ousley), Aang embarks on a journey to master the elements while being chased by Zuko (Daniel Dae Kim), the exiled prince of the Fire Nation, who aims to reclaim his honor by capturing the Avatar.

The cast of *Avatar: The Last Airbender* includes Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Zuko, Elizabeth Yu as Azula, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh, and Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai. Newcomers for the second season include Chin Han (Mortal Kombat), Hoa Xuande (The Sympathizer), Justin Chien (The Brothers Sun), Amanda Zhou (Spinning Out), Crystal Yu (Good Omens), Kelemete Misipeka (Sons of Thunder), Lourdes Faberes (Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre), Rekha Sharma (Battlestar Galactica), Dichen Lachman (Severance), Dolly de Leon (Triangle of Sadness), Terry Chen (Lucky Star), Lily Gao (Blue Sun Palace), Madison Hu (The Brother’s Son), Tantoo Cardinal (Killers of the Flower Moon), and Jon Jon Briones (Hadestown).
