Blumhouse intends to obtain the Saw franchise.
Is Blumhouse prepared to engage in Jigsaw's games? According to reports, the Saw franchise is potentially heading to the well-known horror company. Blumhouse is reportedly in discussions to acquire the Saw franchise from Twisted Pictures. Should this occur, James Wan, who helmed the original film, would receive an ownership stake in the iconic franchise he developed. Blumhouse, led by Jason Blum, joined forces with Wan's Atomic Monster in early January 2024.
Saw became one of the highest-grossing horror films ever, having been produced for just $1.2 million, it debuted to $18.2 million in the domestic market and garnered $104 million worldwide. This success led to a vast horror franchise that includes 10 films, along with merchandise, video games, and more.
The latest installment, Saw X, was one of the most successful entries in the series. An eleventh film was planned but ultimately fell through.
If this scenario seems familiar, it's because discussions between Blumhouse and Twisted began last year but broke down earlier this year due to price disagreements.
