
Everyone is vying for a share of Texas Chainsaw as the rights conflict intensifies.
Glen Powell. Jordan Peele. Oz Perkins. Taylor Sheridan. These are the individuals eager for the opportunity to bring Leatherface to the silver screen.
According to Deadline, the competition for the rights to a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre film has intensified. Managed by Verve, the agency that has held the rights to this slasher franchise since 2017, several top contenders are competing for their piece of this horror pie.
The report highlights Taylor Sheridan's rising prominence, noting his Texan roots and passion for the undertaking. Additionally, Oz Perkins and Neon are showing interest in the new installment, along with Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw, which already has a production deal with Universal.
The list continues to grow, with J.T. Mollner from Strange Darling and producer Roy Lee, known for A Minecraft Movie & Weapons, also entering the fray. There have also been rumors about discussions involving A24 and Texas native Glen Powell, although Powell would not act in this project but would take on a producer role.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise has generated over $251 million in global box office earnings across its various films. The most financially successful entry in the series is the 2003 remake, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which grossed over $107 million worldwide.
