Ryan Gosling Must Save the Planet in the First Trailer for Project Hail Mary.
With films like First Man and Blade Runner 2049 under his belt, Ryan Gosling is familiar with the dangers of space. Before venturing to a galaxy far, far away, he is set to return to orbit in Project Hail Mary, which represents the first official directorial project from Phil Lord and Chris Miller since their work on 2014’s 22 Jump Street—though their Solo adventure did not go as intended.
Co-starring Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, and Milana Vayntrub, this film is an adaptation of Andy Weir’s engaging novel, scripted by Drew Goddard. Ahead of its release on March 20, 2026, from Amazon MGM Studios, the first trailer has been unveiled.
Here’s the synopsis: “Science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) awakens on a spaceship light years away from Earth with no memory of who he is or how he arrived there. As fragments of his memory resurface, he starts to piece together his mission: to unravel the mystery of a strange substance that is causing the sun to fade. He must rely on his scientific expertise and unconventional ideas to prevent the extinction of life on Earth… but an unexpected friendship may mean he won’t have to face the challenge alone.”
