The Running Man Trailer: Glen Powell is Pursued in Edgar Wright's Adaptation of Stephen King's Work.
Following a hectic summer filled with projects like Hit Man and Twisters, Glen Powell returns this fall in Edgar Wright’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Running Man. The film features a cast that includes Katy O’Brian, Daniel Ezra, Karl Glusman, Josh Brolin, Lee Pace, Jayme Lawson, Michael Cera, Emilia Jones, William H. Macy, David Zayas, Sean Hayes, and Colman Domingo. Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer in anticipation of a November 7 release.
Here’s the synopsis: “In a near-future society, The Running Man is the leading television show—a lethal competition where participants, called Runners, must evade professional killers for 30 days, with every action aired to a ravenous audience, each day offering increased cash prizes. In a desperate attempt to save his ill daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is persuaded by the show’s charismatic yet ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to join the game as a final option. However, Ben’s defiance, instincts, and resilience make him an unlikely favorite among viewers—and a menace to the system. As viewership soars, so does the peril, and Ben must outsmart not only the Hunters but also a nation captivated by his downfall.”
“One aspect of the book that resonated with me was that Ben Richards navigates the world solo, creating what feels like the ultimate game of hide and seek,” Wright shared with Empire. “It resembles a road movie in many respects: a highly intense, dangerous road movie. Ben traverses various landscapes and encounters diverse individuals as he strives to endure 30 days in the wilderness.”
