Exclusive Interview - Paige Mobley Discusses Her Role as Fleurette in James Gunn's Superman
Tai Freligh interviews Paige Mobley…
Paige Mobley is widely recognized as the host of the Emmy-winning Netflix series Instant Dream Home, where a team of renovators transforms a deserving family's home in just 12 hours. She is also excited to share her latest role as Fleurette (the former girlfriend of Lex Luthor) in James Gunn’s eagerly awaited film Superman, which debuted in theaters on July 11, 2025. Flickering Myth’s Tai Freligh spoke with her about her character in the new Superman film, her journey in television and film, and her production company…
Taking on the role of Fleurette, Lex Luthor's ex-girlfriend, provides a distinctive viewpoint on one of DC’s most legendary villains. How did you approach creating a character with such a personal history with someone so infamous, and what subtle qualities did you aim to introduce in Fleurette’s characterization that might catch fans off guard?
I was particularly interested in the emotional effects of being close to someone like Lex. Fleurette isn’t a villain (at least not yet! Who knows?) but she has been connected to one—and that experience leaves an imprint. I made every effort to portray her as being in an active survival mode.
Considering James Gunn’s reputation for crafting character-focused stories and allowing actors to make roles their own, how collaborative was the process of developing Fleurette’s more expansive part? Were there particular thoughts or traits you contributed that made it into the final script?
James is incredibly collaborative—he provides guidance while allowing you to have fun. My audition was a critical part of my process. I received very limited information about Fleurette, so I devised scenarios that ultimately shaped much of my final performance.
You’ve made a successful transition from a reality TV personality on America’s Next Top Model to an Emmy-winning host and now an emerging film actress. What advice would you offer someone looking to shift their career in the entertainment industry, particularly when they are known for one specific skill or role?
Don’t allow someone else’s perception of you to limit your potential. You must advocate for yourself, even if the road is not straightforward. If you’re changing directions, that’s perfectly fine! I worried about being a multi-hyphenate for a long time, and it didn’t benefit me. If you have talent, credibility, and a strong work ethic, what is preventing you from exploring multiple opportunities?
From early roles in Gossip Girl to participating in America’s Next Top Model, and now hosting an Emmy-winning series and acting in major films, you’ve created a multi-dimensional career in entertainment. How have these diverse experiences, especially the reality TV component, uniquely equipped you for the demands and opportunities present in scripted film and television roles?
Reality TV taught me a great deal about adaptability and the importance of showing up even when circumstances are unpredictable. Hosting enhanced my ability to guide a room with authenticity. And acting has reconnected me with my roots as a performer. All these experiences have equipped me well, helping me remain grounded on set and understand how to hold my own across various formats.
As the founder of Longmeadow Productions, a film and television production company, how does your experience as an actress and host shape the types of projects you seek to develop and produce, particularly in light of your goal to promote female storytelling?
My time in front of the camera has given me a profound appreciation for the importance of portraying women with complexity and agency. At Longmeadow, I aspire to create opportunities for new voices, narratives, and formats that resonate both as entertaining and emotionally authentic. I want every story to feel relatable.
Having grown up in around 20 different homes, how do you think your personal history significantly influences the emotional depth and ‘finishing touch’ you contribute to the families on Instant Dream Home?
Frequent moves provided me with a strong emotional insight into what “home” truly signifies. On Instant Dream Home, I never underestimate the transformative effect it can have on a family when they enter a space that finally feels like theirs. The finishing touches—the personal details—are everything. That’s where design truly comes alive!
What lies ahead for you?
More storytelling! I’m continuing to develop original projects through Longmeadow, and I would love to take on a romantic comedy next. In my personal life… I’m getting married! So there’s a lot of joy ahead, and I’m really excited!
I thank Paige Mobley for her time. She can be found on Instagram, TikTok, and IMDb.
