Always seeking creative approaches within the horror genre, Scott Derrickson, director of The Black Phone and Sinister, is set to adapt the critically acclaimed novel Ghost Eaters for the big screen.
Published in 2022, Clay McLeod Chapman’s gripping novel centers on Erin, a young woman who rescues her boyfriend from rehab, only for him to succumb to an overdose. Overwhelmed by grief and watching her life unravel, Erin learns about a new drug called Ghost that enables users to see the deceased. As she begins using this paranormal substance, the side effects start to appear, and as the book’s description warns, there's no turning back.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Derrickson will collaborate with his wife, Maggie Levin (My Valentine), who will write and direct Ghost Eaters for Screen Gems. Derrickson, along with C. Robert Cargill (Sinister) and Vince Cheng (The Hitman’s Bodyguard), will develop and produce the project through Crooked Highway.
