
The live-action movie adaptation of The Legend of Zelda by Nintendo has announced its cast for the characters Link and Zelda.
Nintendo has announced the lead actors for the forthcoming live-action film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda. Bo Bragason (Renegade Nell) will portray Princess Zelda, while Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (Everything’s Going to Be Great) will take on the role of Link.
Shigeru Miyamoto from Nintendo shared the news today on X, stating, “This is Miyamoto. I am delighted to confirm that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Bo Bragason-san will play Zelda, and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san will portray Link. I am eagerly anticipating their performances on the big screen.”
The Legend of Zelda is among Nintendo's most beloved franchises, first launched in 1986. The series chronicles the adventures of Princess Zelda and Link, the Hero of Time, as they defend the valuable and sacred Triforce from the malevolent Ganon. Throughout its nearly 40-year history, numerous Zelda titles have been created, with the latest installments for the Nintendo Switch, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, achieving significant success.
The Legend of Zelda film will be jointly produced by Nintendo and Sony Pictures, under the direction of Wes Ball (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) from a screenplay by T.S. Nowlin. Producers include Miyamoto and Avi Arad.
The film is set to premiere on May 7th, 2027.
