The Terminator: Metal series set to debut in October from Dynamite.

Dynamite Entertainment has revealed the next installment of its Terminator comic series, with esteemed writer Declan Shalvey collaborating with co-writer Rory McConville and artist Lorenzo Re for the new title, The Terminator: Metal.

“Working on The Terminator has been one of the most challenging yet fulfilling projects of my career,” Shalvey comments. “With a new series on the horizon, the chance to explore more ideas and diverse stories was simply too thrilling to resist. This time, however, I recognized the need for a trusted writer who could bring big ideas and emotional depth to the project, and I was fortunate that Rory McConville, my co-writer from our previous time-travel series, was available to assist me in navigating this new territory. With Metal, we aim to maintain the same approach as in the past, but with greater emphasis on the challenges faced during The Future War. While the settings may vary, the intense, emotional, and bleak storytelling will remain consistent.”

“While we continue to examine Skynet’s schemes throughout history, we’re also diving deeper into the Future War era than ever before,” shares writer Rory McConville. “Each issue will present a standalone story that explores the victories and sorrows of those ensnared in the everlasting conflict with the machines, as well as their struggle to retain their humanity in a world that has succumbed to ruin.”

In the post-apocalyptic wastelands that emerge after the catastrophic Judgment Day, humanity cobbles together whatever means they can for survival. The existential fight for a human future compels the use of every available resource — including a Terminator! At the heart of this narrative is an engineer named Percy Dalton, who embarks on a mission alongside his possibly unreliable companion “Tex.” After all, the adage of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer may never have been more relevant.

When Percy and Tex find themselves ensnared behind enemy lines in No Man’s Land and encounter other surviving resistance fighters, this deactivated metallic creature becomes a philosophical focal point. Percy will face challenges in completing their mission, collaborating with others, and confronting the essence of being both man and machine. With the possibility of Tex being reset to factory settings or perhaps becoming an unforeseen hero, this thrilling first issue sets the stage for more exhilarating science fiction from Shalvey and McConville in the harsh world of The Terminator! The Terminator: Metal #1 is set to be released in October 2025.
