Willem Dafoe collaborates with Robert Eggers on Werwulf.

      Willem Dafoe has signed on for the latest film by Robert Eggers. In internet lingo: “Fork found in the kitchen.”

      Dafoe will collaborate with Eggers on Werwulf, a new werewolf movie from the filmmaker known for Nosferatu. This will be their fourth partnership, with a fifth already in progress as Dafoe will also appear in Eggers’ take on A Christmas Carol.

      Eggers will direct and co-write the screenplay for Werwulf alongside Sjón, who co-wrote The Northman with him. Focus will handle production and financing, with Eggers and Sjón producing alongside the studio.

      The acclaimed actor will be joined by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who was already cast in the film. Their co-star from Nosferatu, Lily Rose-Depp, is also in discussions to join the cast.

      While the plot details remain under wraps, the title suggests that Eggers will explore the legendary creature. Reports indicate that the film will maintain the historical aesthetic typical of Eggers’ works, which include The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman, and Nosferatu.

      Next for Dafoe are The Man In The Basement and The Birthday Party. Meanwhile, Werwulf is scheduled to be released in North America on Christmas Day 2026.
