The initial teaser for Park Chan-wook's No Other Choice reveals a striking intensity.

One of the major premieres announced for this year's Venice Film Festival is Park Chan-wook's No Other Choice (with Neon managing the U.S. distribution). Ahead of its debut, a brief, staccato teaser has been released, hinting at the story based on Donald E. Westlake's novel, The Ax. This black comedy thriller adapts the 1997 book, which was first filmed by Costa-Gavras in 2005, and follows a man who is laid off from the paper company he dedicated 25 years to. Later, while still unemployed, he comes up with a drastic solution: to actually eliminate his competition. The script has been adapted by Park, Lee Kyung-mi (Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, The Truth Beneath), Don McKellar (The Sympathizer), and Lee Ja-hye (Decision to Leave, The Handmaiden), featuring a cast that includes Lee Byung-hun, Son Ye-jin, Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, Yeom Hye-ran, Cha Seung-won, and Yoo Yeon-seok.

"I believe it has been roughly 17 years since I began writing the script for this film. I'm deeply moved to have finally completed the filming of a project I've longed to create," Park expressed to Korean media. "I will put in great effort during post-production to ensure that everyone involved feels a sense of achievement."
