Beginning in 1990 with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, director Steve Barron’s raw, dynamic adaptation of the underground comic became a box office success, merging martial arts action, street-smart humor, and the pioneering animatronics from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. The 1991 follow-up, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, presents an irresistibly entertaining second installment: a thorough exploration of the turtles’ origins, introducing new mutant villains Tokka and Rahzar, raising the stakes and doubling the pizza!
