Rest in peace, Terence Stamp (1938 - 2025)

      It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of the legendary English actor Terence Stamp today at the age of 87. His family has released a statement noting, "He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and a writer, that will continue to touch and inspire people for years to come. We request privacy during this difficult time."

      Born in London in 1938, Stamp began his career on the stage before gaining attention with his film debut in the 1962 movie Billy Budd, directed by Peter Ustinov. This role catapulted the young actor into fame, earning him a Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer and a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

      Throughout the 60s and 70s, Stamp collaborated with several acclaimed directors, including William Wyler (The Collector), John Schlesinger (Far from the Madding Crowd), Ken Loach (Poor Cow), Federico Fellini (Spirits of the Dead), and Pier Paolo Pasolini (Teorema). He achieved international fame for his portrayal of the Kryptonian antagonist General Zod in both 1978’s Superman: The Movie and its sequel, Superman II, released in 1980.

      Following his role as Zod, Stamp's filmography included notable films such as Wall Street and Young Guns, along with two significant highlights in the 90s with The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and The Limey. He later appeared in works like Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, The Haunted Mansion, Elektra, Wanted, Valkyrie, and Big Eyes. His final film appearance was in Edgar Wright's Last Night in Soho, released in 2021.
