Orwell: 2+2=5 Trailer: Raoul Peck Explores the Predictions of the Author of 1984 and Animal Farm
Debuting at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, *Orwell: 2+2=5* is the newest documentary from director Raoul Peck, known for *I Am Not Your Negro* and *Exterminate All the Brutes*. The film explores the visionary writings of George Orwell, the author of *1984* and *Animal Farm*, while highlighting their relevance to contemporary issues. It is set to be released on October 3, and NEON has just unveiled the first trailer.
Here’s the synopsis: “George Orwell was among the most forward-thinking authors of the 20th century, with his novels *1984* and *Animal Farm* predicting a frighteningly plausible authoritarian future. Acclaimed director Raoul Peck (Academy Award-nominated for *I Am Not Your Negro*), in collaboration with the Orwell Estate, skillfully combines historical footage, excerpts from Orwell’s diary, cinematic references, and vibrant modern-day visuals to create not only a comprehensive portrayal of the writer but also an innovative perspective on the ongoing relevance and prophetic nature of his work. Peck goes beyond merely presenting the facts, offering new ways to interpret them and uncovering connections we might not otherwise notice, celebrating Orwell as a figure from the past who may very well hold the answers to the future of our world.”
