Karen Gillan is cast as the love interest of Connor MacLeod in Highlander.
The forthcoming reboot of Highlander is bringing on Guardians of the Galaxy star Karen Gillan to join Henry Cavill in the cast. This new Highlander will be a remake of the iconic 1986 film, featuring Cavill as the immortal warrior Connor MacLeod, with Chad Stahelski, known for directing John Wick, at the helm.
Highlander centers around a group of immortals who are bound to fight prior to the Gathering, where only one will remain and seize a mysterious Prize. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Gillan is set to portray “MacLeod’s mortal wife and the love of his life.” Her co-stars include Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista, and Marisa Abela.
Crowe will take on the role of Ramirez, another immortal who coaches MacLeod, while Bautista is cast as the villainous Kurgan. Details regarding Abela’s character have yet to be revealed.
Michael Finch penned the screenplay for this reboot, with Lionsgate producing the movie. Filming is scheduled to start in London next month.
