Toronto Film School Makes Its Largest Showing Yet at TIFF’s 50th Anniversary Edition.

This month (September), the Toronto International Film Festival® (TIFF) celebrates its 50th edition, and the Toronto Film School (TFS) is commemorating this milestone with its most ambitious TIFF experience to date.

This year's TIFF program features an impressive array of productions that highlight over 25 members of the TFS community. Notable mentions include six TFS alumni who provided various behind-the-scenes roles for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and will celebrate the film’s North American premiere; 2010 Film Production graduate Zain Duraie, who will debut her feature film, Sink, during the Discovery programme; and TFS instructor Madeline Sims-Fewer, whose latest thriller, Honey Bunch – which includes contributions from three of her former TFS students – will also have its North American premiere.

The festivities continue beyond this! The TIFF Festival Street Art Market, in collaboration with Toronto Film School (Sept. 4–7), will showcase TFS talent vibrantly. Returning as the presenting sponsor for a second year, TFS will feature its Cinema installation—a 10×20-foot mini outdoor theater screening a curated selection of student short films during the festival’s opening weekend. Located just a short distance from Toronto’s TIFF Lightbox, this showcase offers students and their work great exposure to thousands of festival attendees and industry professionals.

Additionally, through the Make It to TIFF with TFS 2025 campaign, the school is providing hands-on opportunities for students, alumni, and emerging creatives to fully engage in one of the world’s leading film festivals.

A key component of this campaign is an exclusive contest in which 15 sought-after Conference Passes were awarded to current and prospective TFS students and alumni, offering them access to the Industry Conference, press and industry screenings, online networking and business tools, entrance to industry locations, and invitations to special industry events, among various other benefits.

For TFS, this expanding partnership with TIFF transcends mere participation; it aims to place its community at the forefront of Canada's creative dialogue.

This year, the school is also introducing the TIFF® x TFS Industry Tour, which provides prospective students with exclusive behind-the-scenes access to its programs and campuses. Together, these initiatives highlight Toronto Film School’s pivotal place at the festival and its standing as an internationally recognized career college that prepares students for careers in film, television, video games, and graphic design.
