Spider-Man: Brand New Day introduces Marvin Jones III in the role of Tombstone.
Filming for *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* has been halted due to Tom Holland’s concussion on set, but Marvel has announced the addition of a new villain for everyone’s favorite web-slinger. Marvin Jones III will portray Tombstone in the upcoming MCU film, taking the character to live-action after voicing him in the animated *Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse*.
Tombstone, originally named Alonzo Thompson Lincoln or Lonnie Lincoln, is an albino African American and one of the most formidable crime bosses in New York City. He was created by Gerry Conway and Alex Saviuk in *Web of Spider-Man* and has become one of Spider-Man’s key adversaries. The character has appeared in various Spider-Man media, most notably as a primary antagonist in *The Spectacular Spider-Man* and as one of Peter Parker’s allies in the recent *Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man*.
Jones provided the voice for Tombstone in *Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse*, where he was one of Wilson Fisk/Kingpin’s henchmen. He will also voice Tombstone in *Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse* for the character's return in 2027. Additionally, Tombstone frequently opposes Daredevil, suggesting the possibility of Jones reprising his role in upcoming seasons of *Daredevil: Born Again* alongside Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio.
Not much is known about *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*, except that it occurs after Peter Parker’s identity has been wiped from the memory of the global population following the events of *No Way Home*. Alongside Holland, Zendaya will return as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned, while Michael Mando will reprise his role as Marc Gargan/Scorpion from *Spider-Man: Homecoming*.
The film will also feature new MCU cast members Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), Liza Colon-Zayas (The Bear), and Tramell Tillman (Severance), though their roles remain undisclosed. MCU veterans Jon Bernthal and Mark Ruffalo are set to return as Frank Castle/The Punisher and Bruce Banner/The Hulk, with rumors suggesting that Florence Pugh will reprise her role as Yelena Belova after *Thunderbolts*.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* is expected to be released on July 31, 2026.
