Criterion will kick off 2026 with a significant lineup. It's noteworthy that Edward Yang's Yi Yi, widely regarded as one of the greatest films of the 21st century, has been upgraded to 4K. Additionally, two titles that have long been rumored for this treatment will also be included: Jim Jarmusch's Dead Man will be released shortly after his latest film, Father Mother Sister Brother, hits theaters, and Jonathan Glazer's Birth, also a consensus favorite of the 21st century, will finally get a proper home video release.
John Huston's last film, The Dead, will also be available in 4K. Meanwhile, Martin Scorsese's World Cinema Project, possibly Criterion's most significant ongoing initiative, will see the release of its fifth volume, which includes Chronicle of the Years of Fire, Yam Daabo, Kummatty, and The Fall of Otrar. Lastly, Criterion Editions will continue with Jia Zhangke's noteworthy film Caught By the Tides.
