Sabrina Carpenter will star in a musical adaptation of Alice in Wonderland produced by the team behind Wicked.

Prepare to dive into a fantastical journey as pop artist Sabrina Carpenter is set to star in a musical film adaptation of **Alice in Wonderland**, produced by Marc Platt of *Wicked* fame and directed by Lorene Scafaria, known for *Hustlers*.

This currently unnamed project will be inspired by Lewis Carroll’s beloved story about young Alice, who descends into a magical realm filled with talking creatures, vibrant flowers, and an ominous red queen. Carpenter, who is presently on a world tour, approached Universal last year with the concept of transforming Carroll's narrative into a musical, prompting Platt, who has been behind both the Broadway production of *Wicked* and its films, to come on board as a producer.

In addition to her role as the lead, Carpenter will also serve as a producer, while Scafaria will both write the screenplay and helm the direction of the film. The musical adaptation of *Alice* will be a collaboration among Universal, Marc Platt Productions, and Alloy Entertainment.

This announcement follows Universal's significant investment in Jon M. Chu's two-part film version of *Wicked*, featuring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. The first installment was a box office success last year and received multiple award nominations, with the concluding chapter *Wicked: For Good* set to release next week.
