Alien: Earth has been renewed for a second season.
The Xenomorphs are making a comeback. FX has announced the renewal of *Alien: Earth* for a second season, with production set to start next year.
*Alien: Earth* serves as a prequel to Ridley Scott’s *Alien* series, exploring life on Earth and revealing more about the enigmatic origins of the lethal Xenomorphs. The show debuted on FX in the summer and will shift its production from Thailand to London in 2026.
This renewal marks the beginning of a new agreement between *Alien: Earth* creator Noah Hawley and Disney, which owns FX. Under this deal, he will develop and produce various series and projects for the studio. Hawley first joined FX with the anthology series adaptation of *Fargo*, which has aired for five seasons to date.
“I’m excited that this expanded deal opens up new possibilities across the entire Disney Entertainment Television spectrum,” Hawley expressed. “FX has consistently championed bold, character-centric narratives. From the start with *Fargo*, they’ve encouraged me to take creative chances and follow the story wherever it leads. I’m grateful to continue delving into the world of *Alien: Earth* with our partners, cast, and crew as we embark on the next chapter.”
“It has been a true privilege to collaborate with Noah for over a decade on some of FX’s finest and most significant shows, and we are eager to extend our partnership into the future,” said FX chairman John Landgraf. “Noah continually astonishes us with genuinely original narratives—his remarkable ability to bring them to life as a director, producer, and writer is exceptional. We are looking forward to commencing the next season of *Alien: Earth*, as well as several equally thrilling future projects already in development.”
“I recognized Noah as a unique talent while working on *Fargo* at FX,” stated Eric Schrier, president of Disney Television Studios & Global Original Television Strategy. “He has created many of television's best shows, and I couldn’t be more thrilled that Noah will continue his partnership with FX and expand it across Disney Entertainment Television.”
The *Alien* franchise is widely regarded as one of the most famous and cherished sci-fi horror series, featuring Sigourney Weaver’s iconic portrayal of Ellen Ripley. The initial film directed by Scott is considered one of the greatest films ever made, while James Cameron’s sequel *Aliens* heightened the intensity with Ripley leading a team against a colony of Xenomorphs.
Two additional *Alien* films featuring Weaver were produced, and Scott later returned to the franchise with his prequels *Prometheus* and *Alien: Covenant*. The most recent film in the franchise, *Alien: Romulus*, was released last year and directed by Fede Álvarez.
When the enigmatic deep space research ship USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth, “Wendy” (Sydney Chandler) and a diverse group of tactical soldiers stumble upon a crucial discovery that brings them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest menace in FX’s *Alien: Earth*.
Set in the year 2120, Earth is under the control of five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. During this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with biological and artificial components) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) coexist with humans. However, everything changes when the prodigious Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a groundbreaking technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype, named “Wendy,” signifies a new era in the pursuit of immortality. Following a collision between a Weyland-Yutani spaceship and Prodigy City, “Wendy” and the other hybrids confront mysterious life forms far more terrifying than any could have anticipated.
The cast of *Alien: Earth* features Sydney Chandler (Wendy), Timothy Olyphant (Kirsh), Alex Lawther (Hermit), Samuel Blenkin (Boy Kavalier), Babou Ceesay (Morrow), Adrian Edmondson (Atom Eins), David Rysdahl (Arthur Sylvia), Essie Davis (Dame Sylvia), Lily Newmark (Nibs), Erana James (Curly), Adarsh Gourav (Slightly), Jonathan Ajayi (Smee), Kit Young (Tootles), Diêm Camille (Siberian), Moe Bar-El (Rashidi), and Sandra Yi Sencindiver (Yutani).
