New trailer released for The Chronology of Water, directed by Kristen Stewart and featuring Imogen Poots.

      After its debut at the Cannes International Film Festival in May of last year, BFI Distribution has released a new trailer and poster for The Chronology of Water in anticipation of its UK release next month.

      This film marks the directorial debut of Kristen Stewart and is adapted from Lidia Yuknavitch's bestselling memoir published in 2011. The cast includes Imogen Poots, Thora Birch, Susannah Flood, Tom Sturridge, Kim Gordon, Michael Epp, Earl Cave, Esmé Creed-Miles, and Jim Belushi. You can watch the trailer below…

      THE CHRONOLOGY OF WATER presents a gritty and honest depiction of survival, sexuality, and self-discovery. It follows Lidia's journey from her earliest memories in the Pacific Northwest as a budding swimmer, through tumultuous relationships, near-motherhood, addiction, and moments with artistic icons. Narrated in a fluid, memory-driven style, the film transforms trauma into art, capturing Yuknavitch’s bold voice that has made her work resonate as a modern cult favorite. It is not just a story of a woman’s evolution into a writer but also a profound exploration of the challenges and tenacity of a life led authentically.

      The Chronology of Water is scheduled to hit UK cinemas on February 6th, 2026.
