AMC has renewed Dark Winds for a fifth season.
Just over a week before the fourth season premiere of Dark Winds, AMC has revealed that the crime drama has been renewed for an early fifth season.
Dark Winds is adapted from the Leaphorn and Chee novel series by Tony Hillerman, centering on Lt. Joe Leaphorn as he safeguards his Navajo Nation while investigating various crimes that affect it. He is accompanied by his colleague, Jim Chee, portrayed by Zahn McClarnon and Kiowa Gordon, respectively.
“Throughout four seasons, Dark Winds has skillfully intertwined captivating character-driven narratives, Navajo culture, spirituality, and stunning cinematography. We are thrilled to continue this journey with showrunner John Wirth and the remarkable Zahn McClarnon,” stated Dan McDermott from AMC. “Our exceptional producing and creative teams, along with the cast and crew, have created a compelling crime drama that is cherished by fans and highly praised by critics. We look forward to bringing more of this extraordinary story to audiences worldwide.”
Production for the fifth season is set to begin next month, with an order for eight episodes to premiere next year. Meanwhile, the fourth season is scheduled to debut on February 15th.
Season 4 revolves around the quest for a missing Navajo girl, taking Leaphorn, Chee, and Manuelito from the safety of the Navajo Nation to the harsh environment of 1970s Los Angeles, as they race against time to rescue her from an obsessive killer linked to organized crime.
The fourth season of Dark Winds features Zahn McClarnon, Kiowa Gordon, Jessica Matten, and A. Martinez, alongside Franka Potente, Isabel DeRoy-Olson, Chaske Spencer, Luke Barnett, and Titus Welliver.
Dark Winds season four will launch on February 15th.
