Disney's live-action Cinderella is regarded as one of the company's more successful attempts at adapting its own classic stories for the big screen. Now, Anastasia and Drizella, previously known as 'The Ugly Sisters', are set to star in their own film, which will be directed by Akiva Schaffer from The Lonely Island.

As reported by Deadline, Schaffer, who directed last year's successful reboot of The Naked Gun that grossed $100 million, will take charge of Stepsisters, a live-action movie that will center on the feuding sisters who made Cinderella's life even harder.

Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, who collaborated with Schaffer on The Naked Gun and 2022's Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, will revise an original script by Michael Montemayor (Tangled). Disney is coming off a major success with 2025's Lilo & Stitch, which made over $1 billion at the global box office, and has just released the trailer for this year's early reimagining of Mulan.
