The initial Japanese trailer for Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Sheep in the Box, ready for its premiere at Cannes.
Mark another certain debut at the Cannes Film Festival. Sheep in the Box, Hirokazu Kore-eda’s first feature of 2026 (prior to his adaptation of Look Back), is scheduled for a May 29 release in Japan, positioning it for a world premiere at the French festival. Ahead of its release, the first Japanese trailer has now been unveiled.
Written by Kore-eda as well, the film features Haruka Ayase, Daigo Yamamoto, and Kuwaki Rimu, and is set in the near future, where a couple adopts a cutting-edge humanoid as their son. The film's title draws inspiration from the French children’s book The Little Prince. NEON is set to release the film in the U.S., likely this fall.
