Katie Aselton and Daveed Diggs Discover a Way Out in the First Trailer for Magic Hour.
Katie Aselton's film Their Town is making its debut at SXSW this year (read our review here), while her previous feature, Magic Hour, which premiered at the festival last year, is set for a theatrical release this summer. Co-written by Aselton and her husband Mark Duplass, the drama features performances by Aselton, Daveed Diggs, Brad Garrett, and Susan Sullivan. Greenwich Entertainment has released the first trailer in anticipation of a May 15 release.
The film's brief synopsis reads: “Charlie and Erin escape to the desert to navigate an unexpected and challenging new phase of their relationship.”
Aselton shared with Deadline, “When Mark and I were brainstorming this idea, we discussed what it would mean if we lost each other.” She added, “I thought, ‘I’m still going to be here, and we’ll still make fart jokes.’ I believe you would keep laughing with someone even after they’re gone, and the notion that a part of them always remains with you, ideally one that fills your heart with joy, persists even amid grief.”
