Katie Aselton and Daveed Diggs Discover Freedom in First Trailer for Magic Hour.

This year at SXSW, Katie Aselton is presenting Their Town (check out our review here), and her previous film, Magic Hour, which debuted at the festival last year, will be receiving a theatrical release starting this summer. Co-written by Aselton and her husband, Mark Duplass, this drama features performances by Aselton, Daveed Diggs, Brad Garrett, and Susan Sullivan. Greenwich Entertainment has released the first trailer in anticipation of its May 15 debut.

Here’s a brief synopsis: “Charlie and Erin head to the desert to confront an unexpected and challenging new stage of their relationship.”

Aselton shared with Deadline, “When Mark and I were developing this idea, we discussed what would occur if we lost each other. I thought, ‘I’m still going to be there, and we will continue to make fart jokes.’ I believe you would keep laughing with someone even after they are gone, and the notion that part of them remains with you is significant, hopefully a part that fills your heart with joy even amidst grief.”
