Kate Beckinsale will star in George A. Romero’s Twilight of the Dead.
Kate Beckinsale has battled her share of big-screen monsters throughout her career, and now she's set to face zombies in George A. Romero's long-awaited Twilight of the Dead. According to an exclusive report from Deadline, the Underworld actress will replace Milla Jovovich as the lead in the final chapter of Romero’s undead series.
Before his passing in 2017, the legendary director had created a treatment for the seventh film in the franchise, and now Twilight of the Dead is being revamped with a new cast, director, and funding.
The Paz Brothers, Doron and Yoav Paz (The Golem), will take over from Brad Anderson, known for The Machinist, with Roundtable Entertainment producing and Magenta Light Studios (Deep Water) handling the release and distribution of the zombie film across North America and Canada.
The plot summary for the conclusion of Romero’s saga, which started with 1968’s Night of the Living Dead, indicates that the story unfolds on a ravaged earth, where the remnants of humanity find themselves caught between warring factions and an advancing undead menace.
