Kate Beckinsale is set to star in George A. Romero's Twilight of the Dead.
Kate Beckinsale has battled her fair share of cinematic monsters over the years, but she is now set to confront zombies in George A. Romero’s long-awaited Twilight of the Dead. According to an exclusive from Deadline, the Underworld star will succeed Milla Jovovich in leading the final chapter of Romero’s undead franchise.
The influential director had crafted a treatment for the seventh film in the series before his death in 2017, and Twilight of the Dead has now undergone a transformation with a fresh cast, a new director, and different financial supporters.
The Paz Brothers, Doron and Yoav Paz (The Golem), will take over directing duties from Brad Anderson, known for The Machinist, with Roundtable Entertainment producing and Magenta Light Studios (Deep Water) handling the release and distribution of the zombie apocalypse film in theaters throughout North America and Canada.
The synopsis for the conclusion of Romero’s saga, which kicked off with 1968’s Night of the Living Dead, indicates that the story is “set on a ravaged earth where the remnants of humanity find themselves caught between fighting factions and an advancing undead menace.”
