Hammer Films reveals a new 4K restoration of the horror classic Dracula.
In conjunction with World Dracula Day, Hammer Films has revealed a brand-new 4K restoration of its 1958 gothic horror classic, Dracula, featuring Christopher Lee. This restoration is set to hit UK cinemas and home entertainment platforms this October.
The upcoming restoration will showcase the film in its most comprehensive version to date, reinstating footage that was previously only available to audiences during the original Japanese theatrical release and thought to have been lost for over sixty years.
“Restoring Dracula in 4K is more than just a film restoration project,” stated John Gore, CEO of Hammer Films and John Gore Studios. “It is the revival of a significant piece of British film history that many believed was lost forever. Experiencing Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing together again in such remarkable detail serves as a reminder of the enduring impact of this film nearly seventy years since its initial release.”
Dracula was Christopher Lee’s debut as the infamous Count and saw him reuniting with Terence Fisher, the director of The Curse of Frankenstein, as well as writer Jimmy Sangster and co-star Peter Cushing, who portrays the vampire hunter Professor Van Helsing.
