Barrio Triste Trailer: Bold Directorial Debut of Bad Bunny Collaborator Stillz Set to Premiere in July.

Last year, Stillz’s directorial debut, Barrio Triste, made a notable impression on the festival circuit with selections at Venice, TIFF, and NYFF. It's now set to hit theaters in an appropriate July slot. Executive produced by Harmony Korine and featuring an original score by Arca, Film Movement will release this first feature from the Bad Bunny collaborator on July 10, and the new trailer has just been unveiled.

Here’s the synopsis: “In a struggling neighborhood of 1980s Medellín, a group of disenchanted teenagers steal a TV reporter’s camera to capture their lives. They pierce through the oppressive atmosphere of their decaying surroundings with poignant reflections on dreams and death, as their grasp on reality and hope starts to diminish alongside reports of mysterious lights falling from the sky, which are accompanied by time and space distortions.”

C.J. Prince noted in his review, “Harmony Korine’s ‘post-cinema’ company EDGLRD, which is just two years old, is already expanding its horizons. Following his directorial efforts with AGGRO DR1FT and Baby Invasion, Korine takes on a producing role for Barrio Triste, the debut feature of Colombian-American creator Stillz. This collaboration is well-suited given Stillz’s experience as a music video director for artists like Bad Bunny and Rosalia. While Barrio Triste shares a vibes-based approach reminiscent of Korine’s recent works, it stands as a unique entity. Exciting, tense, intimate, and mysterious, Barrio Triste offers a compelling portrayal of a lost generation in search of redemption and ranks among the year’s standout debut features.”
