The finale of the Doctor Who story Dark Gallifrey: The Meddling Monks has been released by Big Finish, providing the exciting conclusion to the adventures of the Monk (Rufus Hound) and the Nun (Gemma Whelan) in their peculiar surroundings. Additionally, listeners can look forward to a guest appearance from the Sixth Doctor, portrayed by Colin Baker.

The Monk and the Nun have been residing in this unusual world for a while, but recently they've noticed that something seems off. Suspecting that a sinister force may be at play, they seek assistance from the Sixth Doctor. Upon his arrival, he aims to uncover how they ended up in this peculiar realm and how they can escape. However, the main mystery that captures the Doctor's interest is why the enigmatic John (played by John Finnemore) insists that everyone should be humorous.

The two episodes featured in this finale are:

Monky Puzzle – Prior to the Doctor’s arrival, the Monk and the Nun attempt to take part in an international jigsaw competition, which appears to be an innocuous and serene activity. But what could possibly go wrong?

Monky About - The arrival of the Sixth Doctor brings plenty of action, likely involving chases and explosions. But does a threat loom over all life on Earth?

From left to right: Carrie Quinlan, John Finnemore, Rufus Hound, Simon Kane, and Becky Wright.

Part three of Dark Gallifrey: The Meddling Monks includes guest performances from BBC Radio 4 comedy collaborators John Finnemore, Carrie Quinlan, and Simon Kane, as well as Becky Wright.

Colin Baker remarked, “The script was incredibly fun to read, and it truly was! It’s quite uncommon for the Doctor to engage in something so whimsical. One gets to indulge in the sheer pantomime. Collaborating with Rufus and Gemma has been delightful. I am so old that I remember the original Meddling Monk, Peter Butterworth, so for me, he represents a very familiar, warm, and welcoming character. It’s wonderful to see him return, and Rufus and Gemma bring great joy and energy to the role.”

Dark Gallifrey: The Meddling Monks – Part Three is now available for purchase at £8.99 for the download, or £10.99 for the limited collector’s edition CD. Complete bundles for the entire Dark Gallifrey series are also available on the website.
