NYC Weekend Preview: Masahiro Shinoda, Budd Boetticher in 3D, Carlito's Way & More

      NYC Weekend Watch is our weekly summary of repertory screenings.

      The BAMA retrospective featuring 35mm films by Masahiro Shinoda has commenced.

      At the Museum of Modern Art, the well-curated Universal Westerns series continues with two films by Anthony Mann and Budd Boetticher presented in 3D.

      Film at Lincoln Center's Italian History series continues with screenings of Vincere, The Conformist, and Love and Anarchy on 35mm.

      The Museum of the Moving Image's De Palma retrospective features Carlito’s Way on 35mm; two shorts by Harun Farocki will be screened on Saturday, and the Real American Tales series continues with works by Michael Roemer, Spike Lee, and others.

      Roxy Cinema will screen Cam and Sohrab Shahid Saless’ Far from Home on Friday; Pasolini’s Medea will be shown on Saturday; and William Friedkin’s The Boys in the Band and Cruising will be screened in 4K restoration and on 35mm, respectively, this Sunday.

      Anthology Film Archives celebrates the Allen Ginsberg Centennial with films by Robert Frank and others.

      Film Forum continues its two-week run of a print of The Third Man; Peter Hutton’s No Picnic and Satyajit Ray’s Days and Nights in the Forest will be shown in restorations, while Oliver! will be screened on Sunday morning.

      The IFC Center continues with a 4K restoration of I Shot Andy Warhol; screenings of Terminator 2, Jaws, The Big Lebowski, Purple Rain, and River’s Edge will take place late at night.

      Nitehawk Prospect Park will show The Devil Queen and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off early on Saturday and Sunday.

      Metrograph features screenings of Back to the Future, Full Contact, Empire of the Sun, and Caravaggio on 35mm; Back to the Fox begins, while Gianfranco Rosi, Ringo Lam on Fire, Maybe If You Smile, and The Lives of the Most Excellent Painters continue.
