Masters of the Universe will be released in 4K Ultra HD featuring an extended preview cut.

Fresh off our recent journey to Eternia with the reboot directed by Travis Knight, Arrow Video has revealed its plan to release the original 1987 live-action adaptation of Masters of the Universe, featuring Dolph Lundgren, on 4K Ultra HD through its new boutique label, Toy Robot Video. This release will include a “newly uncovered” extended Preview Cut with never-before-seen footage, which consists of new and additional scenes as well as alternate takes.

Planet Eternia and Castle Grayskull face danger from the malevolent Skeletor (Frank Langella, Dracula), who aims to conquer the planet. A team of freedom fighters led by the valiant He-Man (Dolph Lundgren, Rocky IV) are inadvertently transported to Earth by the enigmatic Cosmic Key, an object that can give Skeletor immense power. Upon reaching Earth, He-Man teams up with two teenagers as they try to locate the key.

With a growing interest in Physical Media, particularly among younger audiences, Toy Robot Video aims to be a fun and inclusive label that complements our core Arrow Video brand, making the joy of physical media ownership accessible beyond just cult fans and cinephiles.

“Toy Robot Video will offer a wide range of content, including mainstream titles and various genres, with an emphasis on more comedies and even animation,” Hewitt added. “We are thrilled with our initial titles, such as the 2-disc 4K UHD release of 1987’s Masters of the Universe in the US and Canada, and we are incredibly excited about what we have planned for 2026 and beyond.”
