Trailer for Hirokazu Kore-eda’s science fiction drama Sheep in the Box

      Neon has unveiled a trailer for "Sheep in the Box," an upcoming Japanese sci-fi drama that follows the story of grieving parents Otone and Kensuke as they invite a humanoid into their home that resembles their deceased son. Directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, the film features performances from Haruka Ayase, Daigo Yamamoto, and Rimu Kuwaki. You can view the trailer below...

      Two years after the death of their son Kakeru, Otone and her husband Kensuke bring a humanoid from a company that provides humanoids to bereaved families as substitutes for lost loved ones into their lives. The android mirrors Kakeru's appearance and behavior; Otone welcomes its presence while Kensuke finds it hard to come to terms with. Coexisting with "him" appears to rejuvenate the family's sense of time, yet it gradually reveals the unspoken pain and unresolved feelings each parent harbors following their loss. Meanwhile, the humanoid starts to wander off to meet other humanoid children, unnoticed by the parents.
