U.S. Trailer for Hirokazu Koreeda's Sheep in the Box Released Before July Premiere

Given the numerous films NEON presented at this year's Cannes Film Festival, it's expected that some will begin their theatrical releases this summer. On July 24, coinciding with the release of Nicolas Winding Refn’s Her Private Hell, they will launch Hirokazu Koreeda’s Sheep in the Box in U.S. theaters starting in New York and Los Angeles, after its North American premiere as the Closing Night selection of Japan Cuts.

Featuring Daigo, Kuwaki Rimu, and Haruka Ayase, the synopsis reads: “In the near future, a grieving couple who has lost their son welcomes a humanoid into their home that looks and sounds just like their deceased child.” This film is Koreeda’s first feature release of the year, with a second feature, Look Back, expected to follow later this fall from GKIDS.
