In the initial trailer for Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Digger, Tom Cruise must save the planet.
After a period of predominantly portraying the world's top action hero, Tom Cruise is set to venture back into more dramatic roles this fall. He takes the lead in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s upcoming film Digger, having undergone a significant transformation to portray the oil magnate Digger Rockwell.
Joining Cruise in the cast are Jesse Plemons, Sandra Hüller, Riz Ahmed, Sophie Wilde, Emma D’Arcy, Robert John Burke, Burn Gorman, Michael Stuhlbarg, and John Goodman. The film, shot by Emmanuel Lubezki, has released its first full trailer in anticipation of its October 2 premiere.
Here’s a brief synopsis: “The most powerful man in the world races to prove his role as humanity’s savior before the calamity he has caused wipes out everything.” Iñárritu shared at CinemaCon that he had been developing the film for about a decade and had discussions with Cruise regarding it for approximately seven years before starting production.
