Prime Video's God of War had to recast Kratos due to an injury sustained by Ryan Hurst.
Prime Video's adaptation of God of War is searching for a new actor to portray Kratos after its star, Ryan Hurst, sustained an injury on set. According to Deadline, Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios made the tough choice to replace Hurst following a severe injury he suffered in late June, where he reportedly tore his bicep while performing a stunt and subsequently required surgery.
The estimated recovery period of 4-6 months would have caused production delays until at least 2027, which raised concerns about the growth of child actor Callum Vinson, who plays the significant role of Atreus, as he could become much taller by then. This situation echoes the challenges faced by Lost when dealing with Walt's growth spurts between seasons.
Hurst, who is well-known for his role as Opie in Sons of Anarchy, gained 40 pounds of muscle to embody the legendary Norse God central to Sony's popular video game franchise. On a positive note, he can take solace in being part of another mythological project, as he is also featured in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey (read our ★★★★★ review here).
