Exclusive Trailer for Lê Bảo’s Locarno Premiere Hearing Resonates with a Beautiful Rhythm
After making a significant impression with his captivating debut Taste at Berlinale in 2021, Vietnamese filmmaker Lê Bảo returns with Hearing (Thính Giác), which is set to have its World Premiere at the Locarno Film Festival in International Competition. In anticipation of its debut on August 10, we are excited to exclusively reveal the first trailer and poster.
Here’s the synopsis: “Ninh lives with his mother and longs for his ex-wife Ngoc and their young children. As a mechanic installing decibel meters in various public spaces and homes, Ninh observes the silence that lingers in relationships. Eager for his parents, who are separated and no longer communicate, to reconcile, his fear of losing connection with his loved ones compels him to confront the unpredictable rhythms of life.”
The director expressed, “I am thrilled to share my film Hearing, a space where I have cherished warm memories and deep yearning. Hearing is also as tender as the songs my mother sang while biking with me during my childhood.”
Produced by Elizabeth Wijaya, Lai Weijie, and Huỳnh Yến, Hearing marks an ambitious international co-production involving Vietnam, Singapore, Norway, France, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Cambodia, Thailand, and Taiwan, with Heretic handling world sales.
