David Jonsson plays T’Challa's son in Marvel's Black Panther III.

      Marvel Studios made a significant announcement yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con concerning the future of Black Panther. With director Ryan Coogler, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, and actors Letitia Wright and Winston Duke present, they introduced David Jonsson (The Long Walk) as the new T’Challa II, T’Challa’s now-grown son who will take on the mantle of the next Black Panther in Black Panther III.

      T’Challa II was first introduced in the closing moments of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever under the name Toussaint. His parents are T’Challa, portrayed by Chadwick Boseman in earlier MCU films until his tragic passing from a severe illness, and Lupita Nyong’o’s Nakia. Before T'Challa's death, they had chosen to raise him away from the throne until he was of age.

      Black Panther III is scheduled for release on December 15, 2028. It is the second project announced following Avengers: Secret Wars, after the news about Ryan Gosling joining Ghost Rider for a yet-to-be-announced date in 2028.

      The film will once again be directed by Coogler, and it is expected that Wright and Duke will also reprise their roles, though their destinies will remain unclear until after Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to release on December 18, alongside 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars.
