Amber A’Lee Frost and Chris Wade discuss the cinematic journeys of Chunks and Chapo Trap House.

      There are podcasts centered on movies (hello), and conversely, there are films based on podcasts. A podcast that facilitates the creation of a movie which is not directly about the podcast itself, yet embodies its perspectives and the humor that has become a common language among individuals in their 20s and 30s: that's something unique.

      Enter Chunks. If you're a regular follower of Chapo Trap House, you're likely familiar with advertisements for the film presented by the show's producer, Chris Wade, who is also involved in producing this particular project. Chunks is a comedic anthology that spans public-access TV, animation, live-streamed poker, and various narrative formats, all of which still capture aspects of contemporary screen life and modern dystopia. The project was led by Amber A’Lee Frost, a dedicated contributor to Chapo who has since launched ColdFeet, a production company that previously supported Eephus. I had the pleasure of discussing Chunks with Chris and Amber, exploring how the Chapo sensibility translates to film, as well as ColdFeet’s upcoming projects.
