Mike Flanagan has been brought on as the writer and showrunner for Henry Cavill's Warhammer 40,000 series.

      With the premiere of his latest Stephen King adaptation, Carrie, on Prime Video this October, director Mike Flanagan, known for The Haunting of Hill House and The Life of Chuck, is poised to collaborate with Amazon again on another major intellectual property project. According to Deadline, Flanagan will be joining Henry Cavill as part of the creative team for the Warhammer 40,000 television series.

      Inspired by the Games Workshop tabletop miniature game, Warhammer 40,000 is set in a distant future where humanity is engaged in an unending, unwinnable conflict against various hostile alien races and supernatural beings.

      A devoted fan of the game and its lore, Cavill secured the rights to the intellectual property in collaboration with Roy Lee and Natalie Viscuso of Vertigo Entertainment in 2022. He presented it to Amazon with plans to executive produce and star in a series adaptation. According to Deadline’s report, Flanagan, who signed a comprehensive deal with Amazon MGM Studios last year, is now set to take on the roles of showrunner, writer, and director for the project.
